The day the inhabitants of our once fair country realise that it is not the people who dwell within it's borders but the intents and actions of those therein which shape it then and only then will the see it is in fact thier own hate and malice which shames a once great nation such as ours into subservience.

Such a day will come when battlelines are drawn and civil unrest erupts in a foul outbrake of bloody war. It will not be the doing of some terrorist organisation, nor the forced collapse of infrastructure through the influx of foreign workers. Nay, our death knell shall keen out across the oceans from the very throats which brought it about.

And that is why I pity us so.

Though not British, I agree with your strong feelings against those who want to keep immigrants out of your country.

We don't have a political party advocating that here in Canada, but there are always a few loudmouths willing to voice that opinion about the immigration situation here too. The thing is, if they stop to think about it, anyone who's not First Nations/Native here, is from immigrant roots - and it's that blending of cultures that created our country in the first place.

On the flag-waving issue, I was reading an article in the Vancouver Sun newspaper yesterday about how Canadians should wave their flag more because most places in the world don't know about our accomplishments in many fields globally. As is typically Canadian, we tend not to make a big deal out of it, and get lost in the shadow of our neighbour to the south.

Don't be afraid to hold your flag up proudly, Mat.
